Communication Commission Report

The goals of the Communication Commission are to interact effectively with IUTOX member Societies, societies in developing countries, other organizations, such as WHO-IPCS, ICSU, IARC, and with the public through public forums and the media. To address these goals, the Commission has undertaken the following activities:

1. The IUTOX website has been registered and can be accessed using the following address: http://iutox.org
2. We have investigated redesign of the website to make it more informative and efficient. P Wright has agreed to be webmaster and will present his ideas and web design bids at the EC meeting in Nashville.
3. The Commission is pleased to announce that K. Chipman has been named Editor of the IUTOX Newsletter. He will outline his plans for the upcoming issue of the Newsletter at the EC Meeting.
4. The Commission is planning articles for communication to the public. Suggested topics include:

• Chemical and nuclear terrorism
• Thresholds in toxicology
• Stem cells in toxicology or toxicology of stem cells
• Risk perception
• Risks from traditional food, GM food and natural foods
• Colin Berry on The Cost of Irrational Choices

These suggestions will be presented and discussed at the EC meeting.
