Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae of Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Iscan Head, Department of Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ankara University, 06100, Tandogan-Ankara, TURKEY Mumtaz Iscan received his B.Sc. as Pharmacist in 1975 and his Ph.D. on Xenobiotic Metabolism in 1982 from University of Ankara, Faculty of Pharmacy. Department of Toxicology. FELLOWSHIPS: He was a visiting scientist at the University of Rochester , School of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Biophysics, New York , USA and worked on heme and steroid metabolism (1988-1989). He received European Science Foundation’s Toxicology Fellowship award twice in 1986 and 1991 and studied the association between the xenobiotic metabolism particularly Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) and DNA-adducts and regulations of the gene expressions of CYPs at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology , Oulu University, Finland. He continued to work on expressions of CYPs in cancerous extrahepatic tissues of humans in Oulu with the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council BAYG-C Fellowship in 1997 and Finnish TEKES Fellowship in 1998 in the Department Pharmacology and Toxicology, Oulu, Finland. He also gained experience in Clinical Pharmacy Education in School of Pharmacy, Albany, New York, USA (1987). AWARDS: He is the recipient of Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council Encouragement Award in Medical Sciences (1991), Sedat Simavi Foundation Prize in Health Sciences (1993) and Ankara University Scientific Award in Health Sciences (1997). PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Assistant (1977-1982), Scientist (1982-1986), Assistant Professor (1986- 1987), Associate Professor (1987-1993), Professor (1993-present). He is participating in undergraduate and graduate training. He is also conducting research. He has administrative experience as a leader of research group since 1986. He has supervised 12 Master and Doctoral thesis. RESEARCH INTEREST: Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology. PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES AND ACTIVITIES : Mumtaz Iscan is a member of several National and International Societies. He is one of the founders of Turkish Society of Toxicology. He was the member (1991- 1993), General Secretary (1993-1997) and Vice-President of Turkish Society of Toxicology (1997-2001). He served as a referee for several International scientific journals (e.g Pharmacogenetics, Environmental Health Perspectives and International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management) and National scientific journals. He was a guest editor of Toxicology Letters and Toxicology. He is also a member of Editorial Board of Toxicology Letters (2004- present) and several national Journals. He was a member of Scientific Committee of Turkish Association of Pharmacists (1989-1991) and of Pesticide Advisory Committee of Turkish Ministry of Health (1994-1996). He is also a member of the Detergents and Disinfectants Products Technical Advisory Committee of Turkish Ministry of Health (1998-present). He is a member of EUROTOX Executive Committee (2001-2007) and was the Chair of EUROTOX Communication Sub Committee (2003-2006). He is an Executive Committee member of Drug Metabolism Section of IUPHAR (2006-2010). He is a member of Panel Experts of Green Facts (2004-present). He is also currently an Executive Committee member of IUTOX (2007-210). He has been an invited speaker for National and International Congresses. He served as an Organising and Scientific Committee member for several National and International Congresses. He was the General Secretary of EUROTOX 2001 Istanbul Congress. He also organised an International Meeting on Xenobiotic Metabolism and Toxicity Workshop in Turkey in 2000 with the support of IUPHAR-Drug Metabolism section, ISSX and COST B15 Action.
