IART Charter

 

CHARTER FOR INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE RECOGNITION OF TOXICOLOGISTS

Preamble:
Toxicologists play a significant role in evaluating the potential adverse effects of chemicals in the workplace and in the
environment at large. They are intimately involved in the processes of research, risk assessment and related regulatory affairs. Because their work is vital to the maintenance of individual and public health, toxicologists must be highly trained, experienced and productive. To assure that people engaged in this work are well-prepared and competent, procedures for the recognition of competence on a world-wide basis must be established. Thus we establish the International Assembly for the Recognition of Toxicologists.

Statute I Name
The name of the organisation shall be the -International Assembly for the Recognition of Toxicologists" hereinafter called the IART. The official abbreviation of this name shall be IART.

Statute II  Purpose and Functions
The purpose of IART shall be to enhance the quality and influence of toxicology throughout the world by establishing a forum for the development, review and adoption of criteria for recognizing qualified experts in toxicology, assisting toxicology organizations in establishing these criteria and using them in the recognition of toxicologists, and promoting the identification of education and training needs to enhance expertise in toxicology

Statute III Membership
Membership in the International Assembly for the Recognition of Toxicologists shall be open to all organizations (registries, boards, academies, etc.) whose purpose is the recognition of expertise in toxicology.

Statute IV Management

  1. The IART shall consist of an Assembly constituted of Delegates from its member organizations. Each participating
    organization shall appoint a Delegate and an Alternate who shall meet for the purpose of transacting the business of the IART.
  2. The Assembly shall be financially self-supporting and have the right to raise funds, appoint Committees and seek other ways and means deemed necessary for the proper execution of its mission.
  3. The Assembly as deemed necessary may elect an Executive Committee selected from the Delegates to conduct the business of the Assembly.
  4. The Assembly shall adopt rules and procedures to implement this Charter as justified.

Statute V Liaisons and Observers

  1. IUTOX is entitled to provide a liaison to the Assembly to promote collaboration and programmatic coordination.
  2. IART will provide a liaison to IUTOX to promote collaboration and programmatic coordination.
  3. IART will invite Observers, selected in agreement with IUTOX, to participate in IART meetings.

Statute VI Duration and Dissolution 2
The IART shall persist until the Assembly fails to meet for two consecutive years.
